Raster-to-SVG conversion traces coloured pixel regions into vector paths. It can make clean logos, icons, line art, and flat illustrations easier to scale, but it is an interpretation of the pixels rather than recovery of the original design file.

How to convert your file

  1. 1Start with the cleanest, highest-resolution version of the artwork available.
  2. 2Choose a preset close to the subject: clean logo, detailed logo, illustration, soft photo, or pixel art.
  3. 3Adjust colour count and path detail gradually, then generate the SVG.
  4. 4Inspect the result at small and large sizes and check the file size before using it in production.

Export settings

Colour count
Fewer colours simplify the SVG; more colours may match gradients better but create more paths.
Path omission
Higher values remove small regions and noise. Too much can erase fine lettering or icon details.
Blur
A small blur can smooth noisy edges before tracing; it can also soften intentional corners.
Corner enhancement
Useful for geometric artwork, but organic illustrations may look more natural without it.
Trace check
Compare the outer silhouette, enclosed spaces in letters, small gaps, and colour regions with the source. Then zoom well beyond the source size and compare file sizes; reject a trace that looks worse or is needlessly larger.

Before you download

  • Tracing cannot recover original Bézier curves, layers, fonts, or editable text from a flattened image.
  • Photographs can generate thousands of paths and an SVG larger than the source image.
  • Brand marks should be checked by the rights holder before the trace replaces an official vector master.

Questions and answers

Is the SVG identical to original vector artwork?

No. It is a new set of paths estimated from pixels, so curves and small details can differ.

Why is my SVG so large?

High colour counts and fine detail create many paths. Simplify the source or reduce tracing complexity.

Is a photograph a good target?

Usually not. A normal raster format is typically smaller and more faithful for continuous-tone photography.
