PNG and WebP converter

This workflow is for transparent graphics and web assets. Both PNG and WebP can carry transparency, but they use different compression approaches. The better choice depends on browser support, editing needs, and the size and visual quality of the actual result.

How to convert your file

3. 3Use maximum dimensions when the source is larger than its final page slot.
4. 4Download the file, verify its pixel dimensions and byte size, and confirm transparency against both a light and a dark background.

WebP quality

A value around 88–92 is a useful first test for detailed web graphics; flat graphics may need a different balance.

PNG output

Choose PNG for lossless hand-off, repeated editing, or a system that does not accept WebP.

Dimensions

Export close to the displayed dimensions to avoid sending unnecessary pixels to a website visitor.

Tone adjustments

Leave adjustments off when format conversion alone is the goal; turn them on only when you intend to change appearance.

Like-for-like check

Compare PNG and WebP at identical pixel dimensions. Record each file's byte size, inspect semi-transparent edges, and open the preferred output in the publishing system that will receive it.

Before you download

• WebP support is broad in current browsers, but an older editor or publishing service may still reject the format.
• A smaller extension does not guarantee a smaller file; dimensions and image content matter more than the name alone.
• Animated PNG or WebP sequences are not preserved by this still-image workflow.
